Catalog Number | GTX22738 | Product Name | LAP2 [RL29] antibody | Product Description | Hamster monoclonal [RL29] to LAP2 | Synonyms | thymopoietin TMPO | Background | In eukaryotic cells, the nuclear envelope consists of inner and outer membranes, which define the border between the nucleus and cytoplasm. The inner and outer nuclear membranes are joined by large, supramolecular assemblies called nuclear pore complexes through which various molecules pass into and out of the nucleus. The inner membrane is lined by a filamentous meshwork called the nuclear lamina made up of proteins called lamins. The attachment of the lamins to the inner nuclear membrane appears to occur through their association with 4 related integral membrane proteins called Lamin Associated Polypeptides (LAPs). LAP 1A, 1B & 1C share a high degree of sequence homology while LAP 2 is distinct from the others. LAP 1A & B bind lamins A, C and B1, while LAP 2 binds lamin B1 only. In addition to lamin binding, LAP 2 has been shown to bind to chromosomes. Phosphorylation of LAP 2 during mitosis inhibits binding to both lamins and chromosomes suggesting that LAP 2 plays an important role in nuclear envelope re-assembly. | Clonality | Monoclonal | Clone No | RL29 | Host | Hamster | Isotype | IgG | Immunogen | Pore complex-lamina fraction isolated from rat liver nuclear envelopes. | Antigen Species | Rat | Tested Applications | Immunofluorescence, Immunoprecipitation, Western blot. The usefulness of this product in other applications has not been determined. | Application Note | Immunofluorescence: use at 1:100 Immunoprecipitation: Assay dependentWestern Blot: use at 1:1000Optimal dilutions should be determined by the individual. | Specificity | Detects Lamin Associated Polypeptide (LAP) 2 from various rat tissues but does not cross-react with LAP 1A, 1B & 1C.This antibody recognizes a single 53 kDa protein representing LAP 2 in rat liver nuclear envelope fractions. | Species Cross Reactivity | Cross-reacts with Rat. Not yet tested in other species. | Target | LAP2 | Cellular Localization | Nuclear and Secreted | Form Supplied | Liquid | Purification | IgG fraction | Storage Buffer | PBS with 0.05% sodium azide | Storage Instruction | Keep as concentrated solution. Store at 4¨¬C short term. For extended storage aliquot and store at -20¨¬C or below. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles. | |
