Description:Summary: Species: | Hu | Applications: | ELISA | Clonality: | Monoclonal | | Gene: | POMC | Purity: | Affinity purified | Host: | Mouse | | Specificity: | ACTH (BGN/1388/66) NB100-62294 recognizes 1-24 ACTH (Synacthen) which, as a synthetic analogue of naturally-occurring Adrenocorticotropic Hormone, can be used to measure adrenal reserve and for the diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency by acute adrenocortical stimulation. ACTH, released from the anterior pituitary gland in response to corticotropin-releasing hormone from the hypothalamus, acts on the adrenal cortex to stimulate the production of corticosteroids such as cortisol, involved in the response to stress. Studies have shown that the administration of 1-24 ACTH increases blood pressure, believed to be attributed to an increase in ACTH-stimulated cortisol secretion, in association with increased cardiac output. NB100-62294 does not recognize 17-39 ACTH (CLIP). NB100-62294 cross-reacts with rat N-terminal ACTH. | Details: Clone: | BGN/1388/66 | Isotype: | IgG1 | Immunogen: | Made to Human ACTH | Gene Symbol: POMC Entrez: | 5443 (Human) | Related Genes: | CRH, PRL, AVP, INS, C1QL1, GH1, GGH, AGT, PLOD1, REN, PBX1, MSX2, TRH, NLRP3, IFNAR1, SST, NPY, BRD2, PDYN, LEP, TAC1, VIP, GCG, CYP21A2, IL6, TNF, CCK, FOS, NR3C1, MC3R, MC2R, SERPINA6, IL2, GHRH, LCT, ALB, GRP, MC4R, PCSK1, LAMC2 | Background: ACTH occurs in cells of the anterior pituitary and in neurons in brain. It regulates the corticosteroid production in the adrenal cortex. Beta endorphin and Met enkephalin are endogenous opiates. MSH (melanocyte stimulating hormone) increases the pigmentation of skin by increasing melanin production in melanocytes. Species: Reactivity: | Human.
