It does not react with smooth muscle tissue. | Publications: | Antibody has not yet been mentioned in a publication. | Details: Clone: | 5C5 | Isotype: | IgM | Immunogen: | The purified rabbit striated muscle actin. | Gene Symbol: ACTA1 Entrez: | 58 (Human) | | 29437 (Rat) | | 70 (ACTC1) | Related Genes: | ALB, EPR, VIM, YWHAZ, INS, CYCS, CAT, DES, NEB, ESR1, MYH14, BBS9, CD34, ACHE, TF, POMC, TPM3, MB, EXOSC10, ATP6V0A1, RFC2, RFC1, RFC4, DSC3, PLA2G4A, APOA1, AKR1A1, GLYAT, PLG, A4GALT, ELN, MPO, EPO, RPLP2, C2, C4A, CEL, HNRNPC, VDAC1, PMP2 | Background: Actins are highly conserved proteins ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells. They comprise, along with microtubules, a major component of the cytoskeleton. Actin has been found to be expressed in at least six isomeric forms. It is expressed in heart and skeletal striated muscle tissue, and in certain smooth muscle tissues, regulating contractile potentials for these cells. It is also expressed in the cytoplasm of non-muscle cells, functioning to control cell structure and motility (1). Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) leads to a structural filament (F-actin), whose formation requires the Arp2/3 complex (2). It has been reported that actin is hyperphosphorylated in primary breast tumors (3). It has also been shown that actin dysfunction leads to certain types of heart failure (4). Species: Reactivity: | Cross-reacts with Carp, Cow, Guinea pig, Human, Rabbit, Rat, Sheep, Snake and Xenopus laevis. Not yet tested in other species. | Applications: Uses: | This antibody can be used on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Prolonged fixation inbuffered formalin can destroy the epitope. It is recommended that this product be used on frozen tissue sectionsor specimens. The optimal conditions should be determined by the individual laboratory. | Dilutions: | Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin 1:25 to 1:50 | Conjugated Ab's: | 1 conjugated antibodies | Packaging: Buffer: | 20 mM tris-borate, 150 mM sodium chloride | Storage: | Store at 4C. Do not freeze. | Preservative: | Sodium Azide | Limitations: | This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Products are guaranteed for 6 months from date of receipt, except for peptides and proteins which are guaranteed for 3 months. | |
