Description:Summary: Species: | Hu | Applications: | RIA, IHC-P, ELISA | Clonality: | Monoclonal | | Gene: | AFP | Purity: | Affinity purified | Host: | Mouse | | Specificity: | This antibody (clone AFP-11) reacts with human alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP), a 70 kDa oncofetal antigen. AFP is a major fetal plasma protein, but is not present in healthy adult tissues. Elevated AFP concentrations in adult plasma may be an early marker of hepatocellular carcinoma or teratoblastoma, while high concentrations in amniotic fluid may indicate severe congenital defects of a fetus. | Publications: | Antibody has not yet been mentioned in a publication. | Details: Clone: | AFP-11 | Isotype: | IgG1 | Immunogen: | Full length native protein (purified) (Human). | Localization: | Secreted | Gene Symbol: AFP Entrez: | 174 (Human) | Related Genes: | TRIM26, ALB, FAM126A, PSG2, CEACAM5, CEACAM7, CGA, CGB5, ACHE, TF, HGF, ALPP, TP53, KRT19, VIM, GGT1, IL6, EGF, ADAM17, PTPRC, KLK3, CSH1, PAPPA, CSH2, ACE, IL2, SLC17A5, SERPINA1, SOS1, MUC16, PSAT1, PCNA, PROS1, PLAG1, NPEPPS, CLTA, GUCY2D, INS, REG3A, GGT2 | Background: Alpha 1 Fetoprotein is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac and the liver during fetal life. Alpha fetoprotein expression in adults is often associated with hepatoma or teratoma. However, hereditary persistance of alpha-fetoprotein may also be found in individuals with no obvious pathology. The protein is thought to be the fetal counterpart of serum albumin, and the alpha fetoprotein and albumin genes are present in tandem in the same transcriptional orientation on chromosome 4. Alpha fetoprotein is found in monomeric as well as dimeric and trimeric forms, and binds copper, nickel, fatty acids and bilirubin. The level of alpha fetoprotein in amniotic fluid is used to measure renal loss of protein to screen for spina bifida and anencephaly. Expression has been documented in human adrenal, liver, ovary, testis, and pancreas. ESTs have been isolated from normal human brain, liver/spleen, embryo and uterus tissue libraries. Species: Reactivity: | Cross-reacts with Human. Not yet tested in other species. | Applications: Uses: | ELISA: Use at an assay dependant concentration. This antibody can be used in a sandwich ELISA with NB500-643: Use at an assay dependant concentration. RIA: Use at an assay dependant concentration. Not tested in other applications.Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. | Dilutions: | ELISA , Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin, Radioimmunoassay | Positive Controls: | 1 positive controls | Packaging: Buffer: | PBS. pH 7.4 | Storage: | Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles. | Preservative: | Sodium Azide | Limitations: | This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis.
