Description:Summary: Species: | Hu | Applications: | ID | Clonality: | Polyclonal | | Gene: | ORM1 | Purity: | IgG purified | Host: | Sheep | | Specificity: | Recognizes human alpha 1 acid glycoprotein (alpha 1-AGP), also known as orosomucoid (ORM1), a 40kDa major acute phase reactant secreted into the plasma by the liver, believed to act as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory agent. An increase in plasma alpha 1-AGP levels occurs during tissue injury, inflammation, infection, surgery, acute myocardial infarction, trauma and pregnancy. Regulators of alpha 1-AGP expression include IL-1beta, IL-6, glucocorticoids, TNF-alpha and retinoic acids, and alpha 1-AGP can bind to drugs from endogenous and exogenous origin. | Details: Isotype: | IgG | Immunogen: | Human alpha 1 acid glycoprotein purified from Cohn Fraction VI | Gene Symbol: ORM1 Entrez: | 5004 (Human) | Related Genes: | ORM2, ATP5A1, AHSG, AGP, HP, DLC1, C3, TF, ESD, SLC7A6, PGD, BAIAP2, ADA, C6, F2, PGM1, IL5, PSMA7, F13B, ALB, TERF1, F13A1, GLO1, ACP1, BAIAP3, AK1, CXCL10, C7, ANGPT1, APOC2, SLC15A3, PLG, A2M, ABO, CFB, SMS, SERPINE1, SEPHS1, PHGDH, TBX4 | Background: Alpha 1 Acid Glycoprotein (AGP) is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver. The protein is believed to regulate the interaction between blood cells and endothelial cells, and together with haptoglobin and C reactive protein, also regulates the extravasation of the cells during infection and inflammation. AGP is a major acute phase reactant, both in human and in rat. In human plasma, AGP (44 kDa) is found at levels of 0.5-1.4 mg/ml. Its concentration in blood plasma is elevated during acute inflammation, such as trauma, malignancies, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, after major surgery, in cases of chronic pain etc, and can be used for the diagnosis of inflammatory conditions.
