Description:Summary: Species: | Fe(-), Rt(-), Po, Mu(-), Hu, Ca, Bv(-) | Applications: | IHC-P, IHC | Clonality: | Monoclonal | | Gene: | AFP | Purity: | IgG purified | Host: | Mouse | | Specificity: | Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) is a single chain glycoprotein of 70 kD that is normally expressed in the fetal liver, gastrointestinal tract and yolk sac. This recognizes an epitope of alpha-Fetoprotein present in human and several other species. | Publications: | Antibody has not yet been mentioned in a publication. | Details: Clone: | C3 | Isotype: | IgG2a | Immunogen: | BALB/C mice were injected with human alpha-fetoprotein. | Localization: | Cytoplasmic | Gene Symbol: AFP Related Genes: | TRIM26, ALB, FAM126A, PSG2, CEACAM5, CEACAM7, CGA, CGB5, ACHE, TF, HGF, ALPP, TP53, KRT19, VIM, GGT1, IL6, EGF, ADAM17, PTPRC, KLK3, CSH1, PAPPA, CSH2, ACE, IL2, SLC17A5, SERPINA1, SOS1, MUC16, PSAT1, PCNA, PROS1, PLAG1, NPEPPS, CLTA, GUCY2D, INS, REG3A, GGT2 | Background: Alpha 1 Fetoprotein is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac and the liver during fetal life. Alpha fetoprotein expression in adults is often associated with hepatoma or teratoma. However, hereditary persistence of alpha-fetoprotein may also be found in individuals with no obvious pathology. The protein is thought to be the fetal counterpart of serum albumin, and the alpha fetoprotein and albumin genes are present in tandem in the same transcriptional orientation on chromosome 4. Alpha fetoprotein is found in monomeric as well as dimeric and trimeric forms, and binds copper, nickel, fatty acids and bilirubin. The level of alpha fetoprotein in amniotic fluid is used to measure renal loss of protein to screen for spina bifida and anencephaly. Expression has been documented in human adrenal, liver, ovary, testis, and pancreas. ESTs have been isolated from normal human brain, liver/spleen, embryo and uterus tissue libraries. Species: Reactivity: | Human, Dog and Pig. Does not react with Bovine, Cat, Rat and Mouse. | Applications: Uses: | This antibody has been pretitered and quality controlled to work on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded and acetone fixed cryostat tissue sections. No further titration is required. | Dilutions: | immunohistochemistry , Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin | Packaging: Storage: | Store at 4C. Do not freeze. | Preservative: | No Preservative | Limitations: | This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Products are guaranteed for 6 months from date of receipt, except for peptides and proteins which are guaranteed for 3 months. | |
