Specificity | This antibody reacts to Kallikrein 11 (KLK11). | Application | ELISA: 1/1,000. | Background | Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. KLK11, also known as hippostatin, is a kallikrein-like serine protease, which has two alternatively spliced isoforms, brain-type and prostate-type. KLK11 plays a role in the prostate, including reproductive and/or tumorigenic functions. Elevated serum levels of KLLK11 are found in 70% of women with ovarian cancer and in 60% of men with prostate cancer. Analysis of the KLK11 biomarker in serum may aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of ovarian and prostatic carcinoma. | Caution | This product is for research use only.
