Catalog Number | GTX14130 |
Product Name | Actin antibody |
Product Description | Rabbit polyclonal to Actin |
Background | The two major cytoskeletal proteins implicated in cell motility are actin and myosin. Actin and myosin are constituents of many cell types and are involved in a myriad of cellular processes including locomotion, secretion, cytoplasmic streaming, phagocytosis and cytokinesis. Although actin is one of the most conserved eukaryotic proteins, it is expressed in mammals and birds as at least six isoforms characterized by electrophoresis and amino acid sequence analysis. Four of them represent the differentiation markers of muscle tissues and two are found in practically all cells. |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Host | Rabbit |
Isotype | IgG |
Immunogen | Actin isolated from chicken back muscle. |
Antigen Species | Chicken |
Tested Applications | ELISA, IHC (Frozen sections), IHC (Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections). The usefulness of this product in other applications has not been determined. |
Application Note | ELISA: Use at an assay dependent dilution. IHC-P: Use at a dilution of 1/50. IHC-Fr: Use at a dilution of 1/50. For immunohistochemistry incubate GTX14130 for 30-60 minutes at room temperature or overnight at 4¡ÆC. If DAB is used as a chromogen for immunoperoxidase staining, a further dilution of the primary antibody may be required. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. |
Specificity | Recognizes alpha actin. Crossreacts with beta, gamma and delta actin. No crossreactivity is observed with other cytoskeletal proteins. |
Species Cross Reactivity | Cross-reacts with Human and Chicken. Not yet tested in other species. |
Positive Controls | Skeletal muscle/Leiomyosarcoma |
