Background | α1-antitrypsin is a plasma protein synthesized in the liver. It consists of a single polypeptide chain and has a molecular weight of 51 kDa. A serine protease inhibitor, its primary function is the protection of lung tissue from the action of neutrophil elastase. The average level of α1-antitrypsin in plasma is1.3g/L. |

Immunogen | Human α1-antitrypsin purified from human plasma and shown to be pure by IEP. |
Antigen Species | Human |
Tested Applications | Enzyme immunoassay. The usefulness of this product in other applications has not been determined. |
Application Note | EIA: To give an A450nm = 1.0 using wells coated with human α1-antitrypsin at 5¥ìg/mL andtetramethylbenzidine as the chromogen: 1/6400 - 1/12800 The titres reported should be used as guidelines for determining the working dilution in the users system. The addition of Tween 20 (0.05 - 0.1%) to the conjugate diluent buffer is recommended to prevent non-specific binding in EIA. It mayalso be advantageous in other assay systems. |
Specificity | The unconjugated immunoglobulin was shown to be specific by immunoelectrophoresis and double diffusion (Ouchterlony). |
Species Cross Reactivity | Human - Not yet tested in other species |
