Catalog Number | GTX74394 |
Product Name | 8-Hydroxyguanosine antibody |
Product Description | Goat polyclonal to 8-Hydroxyguanosine |
Background | 8 Hydroxyguanosine (80G) is a modified base which occurs in DNA as a result of oxidative stress. 8 Hydroxy-2deoxyguanosine (8OHdG) has become a sensitive marker of oxidative damage in cellular DNA and has been reported to be excreted in the urine. Levels of 8OHdG have been shown to increase on exposure to ionizing radiation and tobacco smoke. |
Clonality | Polyclonal |
Host | Goat |
Immunogen | 8-Hydroxyguanosine - conjugate |
Tested Applications | ELISA, IHC (Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections). The usefulness of this product in other applications has not been determined. |
Application Note | For IHC-P: Use at a dilution of 1:200. For ELISA: Use at a dilution of 1:100,000 - 1:250,000. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the researcher. |
Specificity | Recognizes 8-hydroxyguanosine (8-OG), a modified base which occurs in DNA as a result of oxidative stress. 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) has become a sensitive marker of oxidative damage in cellular DNA and has been reported to be excreted in the urine. Levels of 8-OHdG have been shown to increase on exposure to ionizing radiation and tobacco smoke. Reacts completely with 8-OHdG. Does not cross react with other naturally occurring nucleotides. |
Species Cross Reactivity | Due to the conserved nature of the target cross reactivity would be expected in wide range of species. |
Target | 8-hydroxyguanosine |
