It is thought to be some where within the central a lpha helical "rod&quo t; region of the molecule. | | Localization: | Cytoplasmic | Gene Symbol: NEFL | Entrez: | 4747 (Human) | | Related Genes: | NEFM, NF-H, NFASC, GFAP, MPZ, VIM, SOD1, KIF1B, LAMC2, MAPT, PRPH, NEFH, PMP22, MAP2, GJB1, MAD2L1BP, MBP, IGFALS, NF200, METAP2, HSPB1, ENO2, GAP-43, MFN2, PXMP2, NES, GCLC, GCA, GMCL1, GMCL1L, MTMR2, SYP, NGF, PHLDA2, BDNF, GARS, CDK5, DLG3, DES, MBL2 | Background: Neurofilaments are the 10nm or intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, and are composed predominantly of three major proteins called NF-L, NF-M and NF-H. NF-L is the neurofilament light or low molecular weight polypeptide and runs on SDS-PAGE gels at about 68kDa. Antibodies to NF-L are useful for identifying neuronal cells and their processes in tissue sections and in tissue culture. NF-L antibody can also be useful in the diagnostics of neurofilament accumulations seen in many neurological diseases, such as Lou Gehrig's disease or Alzheimer's disease. Species: | Reactivity: | Human and other mammals. Also recognizes avian NF-L. | Applications: | Uses: | The predicted molecular weight is 68 kDa. | | Dilutions: | immunohistochemistry 1:250, immunofluorescence 1:100 - 1:500, Western Blot 1:5000 to 1:10,000 | | Positive Controls: | 1 positive controls | Packaging: | Buffer: | Ascitic fluid | | Storage: | Store at 4C short term. Aliquot and store at -20C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles. | | Preservative: | 0.1% Sodium Azide | | Limitations: | This product is for research use only and is not approved for use in humans or in clinical diagnosis. Products are guaranteed for 6 months from date of receipt, except for peptides and proteins which are guaranteed for 3 months. | |
