Specificity | This antibody recognises bovine Albumin (BSA), a soluble protein which constitutes approximately 50% of blood serum protein, acting as a regulator of blood colloidal osmotic pressure and hence blood volume. |
Application | ELISA: 1:100 - 1:1000. |
Background | Albumin is also an important transporter of substances within the bloodstream, such as fatty acids, thyroid hormones, metal ions and steroids. BSA is produced as a by-product of the beef industry and can be used as a nutrient in cell cultures, as an enzyme stabilizer during DNA digestion, and as a diluent or blocking agent in immunohistochemistry and Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISAs). |
