ATG5 is required for autophagy. It conjugates to ATG12 and associates with isolation membrane to form autophagosomes. The conjugate detaches from the membrane immediately before or after autophagosome formation is completed. Conjugation to ATG12 is essential for autophagy, but is not required for association with isolation membrane. ATG5 also plays an important role in the apoptotic process. Its expression is a relatively late event in the apoptotic process, occurring downstream of caspase activity. Species: Reactivity: | Reacts with human, mouse, rat, cow, pig, primate, Xenopus and Zebrafish. | Applications: Uses: | This antibody is useful for Western blot analysis. The molecular weight of human ATG5 is ~33 kDa. | Dilutions: | immunohistochemistry 2.5ug/ml, Western Blot 1:500 | Concentrations: | 1.0 mg/ml | Conjugated Ab's: | 4 conjugated antibodies | Packaging: Buffer: | 50mM sodium borate | Storage: | Store at 4C.
