Specificity | This antibody recognises Fatty acid binding protein 7 (FABP7), also known as Brain Fatty acid binding protein (B-FABP). |
Application | Western Blot: 0.5 - 1.0?g/ml; detects a band of approximately 25kDa in human breast tissue cell lysates. |
Background | FABP7 is a 15 kDa cytoplasmic protein belonging to the Fatty acid binding protein (FABP) family. The FABP family is a group of small highly conserved cytoplasmic proteins that bind long chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. Research suggests that FABPs are involved in fatty acid uptake, transport and metabolism. FABP7 is expressed in the brain and other neurological tissues. FABP7 is an important component in the establishment of the radial glial fiber system in the developing brain, a system that is required for the migration of immature neurones to establish cortical layers. Studies have also demonstrated that FABP7 is frequently expressed in melanomas. |
